Summer Sizzlers

Summer Sizzlers at Campbell College

These are exciting activities which provide children with the opportunity to challenge their creativity and sense of adventure. As with our main programmes, the chance to learn and expand new skills will be accompanied by generous lashings of fun and camaraderie. These Summer Sizzlers will also enable youngsters to specialise in a particular activity favourite.

Climbing Tower

A unique opportunity for children to explore their sense of adventure, their co-ordination and initiative, and their nerve! Each participant will be able to attempt four climbing faces, of varying difficulty, and take part in climbing games like Blindfold Climbing. Full group participation is encouraged in these games.

This programme is organised by the outward bound specialists Peak Discovery who provide specialist equipment including safety harnesses. Instruction is given by NGB qualified staff who will ensure that safety is given top priority.

Laserquest

Can your team outshoot and outscore the enemy? Laserquest will test your skill at sending an infra red beam at a member of the opposing team each time he/she emerges from hiding – and you have to protect yourself from being hit by them. You can hide behind a series of obstacles, and once the winning team has taken all the other team’s lives, you can start all over again!

Laserquest features TWO 70-min sessions on separate days. Operated by ESCARMOUCHE- PAINTBALL & LASERQUEST based at Shane’s Castle in Randalstown. Escarmouche have offered Paintball courses for the past 14 years but Laserquest is new.

Laserquest is fantastic fun and offers the following -

  • you fire a safe beam which operates like your TV remote control
  • you do not need to wear eye or face protection, and you are not hurt in any way when ’shot’ by another player
  • you are not charged for the ammo you use – you can have as much as you like until the session ends
  • you are given more than one life per game – depending on the mission, you are given a number of lives, just like a computer game
  • your laser gun is accurate at long range (approx. 200m) – if you can see them, you can shoot them
  • there are no disputes about having been hit or not – your laser has great light and sound effects, letting you and everybody around know you have been hit
